Project controls that surface risk early
In high-visibility Saudi programmes, late discovery of risk is more expensive than early conservatism. Structure the work so surprises surface early.
Project management is often treated as a reporting function — status colours, percentage complete, and a recovery plan written after the slip. In complex Saudi programmes spanning multiple contractors, regulators, and stakeholders, that posture is too late.
Delivery excellence is a design choice made at the front end: how packages are split, how interfaces are owned, how contingency is held, and how bad news travels upward without punishment that encourages silence.
Baseline integrity
A baseline that everyone knows is optimistic is not a plan; it is a political document. Re-baseline when scope changes. Protect float. Separate management reserve from contractor contingency so the owner retains real options.
Interface management as a discipline
Most overruns hide at the seams — between civil and MEP, between IT and operations, between temporary and permanent works. Assign named owners to each critical interface and review them with the same seriousness as cost and schedule.
Early warning over late heroics
Encourage teams to escalate emerging risks while options still exist. Heroic recoveries make good stories and bad systems. Institutional sponsors should reward early transparency more than dramatic last-mile saves.
Takamul’s delivery stance is straightforward: clarity of scope, honesty of baseline, and governance that surfaces reality while there is still time to act. Reputation in this market is built on programmes that finish as promised — not on slides that looked green until they didn’t.
